Obituary

This is the Day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2nd Corinthians 5:8

James Lee Dabney, Jr., affectionately known as "JD" or "Jr." was born to the late James Lee Dabney, Sr. (who preceded him in death). and Mildred Louise Dabney on November 13, 1962, in Ashland, VA.

He was a laborer of work and love. He loved his family and friends just the same. James was one of one. He lived by the beat of his own drum. He lived his life his way and not by anyone's direction. He was always "trained to go" (his words) and thought all the ladies loved him! He swore he had the best hair and the prettiest eyes. He never forgot to let his sister Odessa know that she was gaining weight and as big as he was. He cherished his mother until the very last days. He recently moved back home, and you could not tell him that he was not the best chef around! He thought he became the best chef overnight and would tell anyone who asked him how he prepared delicious meals for his mother.

There was never a dull moment when he was around. You just knew you were going to laugh and laugh hard! He may have gotten put out of a few places, but he had his reasons. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan even through all of their losing years.

He was a son, brother and uncle. To have known him was to truly love him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Mildred Dabney, two sisters, Odessa Wyatt (Bobby), and Cynthia Booker (Jerome), his "brother" Kevin Winston, Cousin, Carrie Dabney, his nieces, Monika, and Lameka Wyatt, Twashika Wyatt (Jamahl), and Chalita Howell (Donte), his great nieces and nephews, KeiAndra Wyatt, Andre Wyatt, Jayden Taylor, Sariyah Howell, Jayla Taylor, Aamir, Kahlani and Zaire Howell, other relatives and friends.
