Rooks
September 9, 1949 – March 18, 2022
James T. Rooks, son of the late James and Sarah Rooks, was born September 9, 1949 in Richmond, Virginia.
He graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School. After graduating he joined the Army receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the M-14 Marksman and M-16 Sharpshooter. While in the service, he studied Martial Arts (Kung-Fu). Thereafter, he received an Honorable Discharge.
He gave 45 years of service to Shoney's Family Restaurant.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Tarqueenia (Queenie) Rooks and then his wife, Pearlene Rooks; brothers, Charles Rooks and nephew, Kevin A. Morgan.
He leaves to cherish his memory, four sons, James T. O. Rooks (Junny), Robert (Robbie) Rooks, Alphine "Chris" Rooks, and Joseph "Maurice" Rooks; four grandchildren, Arianna, Kaylah, Jalen, and Christopher; three great-grandchildren, Roman, Andrew and Dani; two brothers, Phillip N. Rooks (Delphine) and Steven L. Rooks; two sisters, Beatrice Rooks and Sarah Morgan; niece, Andrea Morgan; nephew, Phillip N. Rooks, III.
James will be missed by the many people who he came in contact with. We thank God for the memories he left behind. Well done soldier, may you find peace, "The Last Dragon".
God knew the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb;
