James Roosevelt Shelton was born June 7,1937 in Bumpass Virginia to the late Junior and Lucy Shelton.  He departed this life on August 22, 2020.  James was educated in Louisa County Public Schools.  He joined Mount Olivet Baptist Church at an early age.  He was a truck driver for many years for National Freight Lines, Thomas Brothers Construction, and retired from Atkin, Newcomb and Stencil in June of 1999.  Many that know him, know that he never stopped working even after retirement.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, James and Jerome, and one sister Dorthy Shelton.  He leaves to cherish his memories, four daughters, Glenda Thomas (Ernest), Gay Williams (Edward), Gwendonetta Thomas (Richard), and Rev. Gearldine Shelton (Wayne); devoted sister Reatha Jackson; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
