Jean Delores
Hopson
June 3, 1948 – August 17, 2018
O n Friday, August 17th, 2018, God, our Father in his infinite wisdom, closed the eyes of our beloved, Jean Delores Hopson, surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born on June 3, 1948, the tenth child to the late Oliver and Ethelene Johnson. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Oliver, Jr., Sandy, and Gandy Johnson and two sisters, Helen King and Joyce Johnson.
Jean was educated in the Caroline County public school system. At an early age, she was baptized and became a member of Jericho Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her death. Jean served as an usher, sang in various choirs, and served as a member of the hospitality committee for many years. She loved to attend church every Sunday not only for morning worship but whenever the doors of the church were open, you could find her sitting at the end of "her" row.
Jean had a quiet demeanor and a very loving heart. In her spare time, she loved spending time with her one and only daughter, Katina, her sisters and her entire family. She had a passion for cooking, loved to cook, and could cook, so much so that she did it professionally, became certified and retired from Love's after many years of service. Jean enjoyed cooking for her family, church family, and friends. Everyone looked forward to gathering at "the house" on 1st Sunday in August, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other special occasions.
To continue her legacy of love is her devoted daughter, Katina Hopson (fiance', Marquis) who was the apple of her eye and her "Big Girl", loving sisters, Ethel (Frank) Cole; Margaret (William) Roye; Ruby Washington (Carroll-deceased); Dorothy Boone (Robert-deceased); Kathryn (Cleveland) King; Nancy Bray (John-deceased); Linda (Carroll) Moore, two sisters-in-law, Julia Johnson and Ethel Johnson, brother-in-law, James King; her nieces and nephews whom she loved so dearly, other family and friends.
