Jennette Jackson- Allen, affectionately called Memaw was born to Melvin Collins and Rella Collins on January 16 th 1942 in Memphis Tennessee. As a young child the family relocated to Chicago Illinois. Jennette was baptized in Christ at an early age where she attended the Michigan Avenue Church of Christ singing and traveling with the youth choir.
She attended Englewood High School and Kennedy King College, majoring in Art and Design that set her on a path of sewing and designing clothing for her family and friends in her leisure time. In addition to her sewing, she loved to sing and dance with her family and friends.
In the 70's she was a part of a singing group called the Lighter Shades of Brown and lead with a song called The Price of Love which produced a record.
Jennette was a loving and giving person and wanted to pass her love on to others. She became a foster mother in the early 90's to provide at-risk youth with some stability and support, loving them unconditionally because they were after all, her children.
Jennette transitioned to reward on April 19, 2020 after her battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Darryl Coleman, Trina Coleman, Janine Jackson, Johnnell Taylor, Wilbert Brown, Rondale Taylor, Alisha Smith and Tarrell Lewis Jr. Her siblings: Evelyn Johnson, Andree Dixon, Patricia Brown (who preceded her in death) Melvin Collins Jr. and Ray Collins.
Grandchildren: Jamela Coleman, John Lee, Rashaun Coleman, Rachard Jackson, Chermone King (preceded her in death) Jovon King (Kayla Andrews) Christopher Taylor. Great Grand Children : Channyn Holly, Keyonna Griffin, Jahiem Jackson, Krishton Williams, Rae 'Shaun Coleman, Chermone King II, Ra'Aun Harvey, Travon Harvey, Peyton Lee, Lanayiah Champ, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family members
