Jessie Randolph
Anderson
June 10, 1953 – April 29, 2024
Jessie Anderson departed from this life on April 29, 2024, in the comfort of his home in Ashland, Virginia. Jessie was born in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Joseph Newman Anderson Sr and Angie Williams. However, he was lovingly raised by Gertrude Anderson and Joseph Newman Anderson Sr. He received his education in the Caroline County Public School system and proudly graduated from Ladysmith High School.
He is survived by his cherished daughter, Jelisa Tunstall (Harold "Three" Tunstall III), and his siblings Leon Anderson, Mildred Kweisi, Rozetta Patterson, Robert Brown, Francine Hines, and Furman Jones. He was preceded in death by his siblings Earl Minor, joseph Anderson Jr., Elaine Brown, and one nephew. Additionally, he leaves behind his fiancée, Lisa Harris, a devoted friend and brother Charles "Chick" Utley, and the most devoted caregivers, Marian Joyce Tunstall and Margo Carter, along with many other friends and family.
Jessie dedicated many years of his life to the Railroad before retiring. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Talley and Armstrong as a machine operator for their paving company.
He embraced his faith from an early age and was an active member of Mt. Oni Baptist Church, where he served diligently on the usher board and hospitality committee. Jessie was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed, whether it was setting up tents, painting, or clearing land. He took great pride in his role as an usher, especially when serving as the President of the ministry. Jessie had a radiant smile that could brighten any room, and his infectious laughter would precede his arrival, followed by a 'I'm doing WONDERFUL'. He had a special bond with his daughter, Jelisa, whom he adored deeply. He was fond of sharing the story of her birth, boasting that she was "the biggest baby in the hospital that day". Among his passions were his love for the Miami Dolphins football team and his enjoyment of watching drag racing. Regardless of his endeavors, he always made sure to integrate God and offer praise continually. He openly shared his profound love for the Lord with anyone he encountered.
Jessie will be remembered fondly by all who knew him for his kindness, generosity, unwavering spirit, and unconditional love for his daughter. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
