Jimmy Maurice Thornton, 57, of Richmond, Virginia was called home to be with the lord on August 17, 2024.

Despite his quiet demeanor, Jimmy had a way of making everyone feel at ease. He was always quick with a kind word or a helpful hand. His positive attitude was infectious.

Jimmy's dedication to his job, at Branscome, was unmatched. He was highly respected by his colleagues for his hard work, knowledge and reliability. He took pride in everything he did whether at work or at home.

Jimmy was a true role model for all around him and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Thornton and 2 brothers, Fred "Butch" McPherson and John Thornton Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Thornton; his children Chanetia Temple, Alicia (Marvin) Green, Jimmy Thornton Jr., Mark Chandler, and Michael Thornton; 10 grandchildren, Laquell, Chastity, Malichi, Jakiya, Jarrell, Zay'Vionna, Jayce, Coi, Jayco, and Destiny; his father, Douglas Thornton; 3 brothers, Lewis (Cindy) McPhearson, Winston (Cheryl) Thornton, and Bobby (Lisa) Thornton Sr.; 4 sisters, Ann (Major) Spurlock, Verna (Alonzo) Anderson, Wendy McDowney, and Benita (Wayne) Johnson; and a host of family and friends.
