John Elmore Bray went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 18, 2014. He was born on January 10, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Stuart and Ann Bray. John accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Greater Nazarene Baptist Church where he served as a youth deacon for a number of years. He attended Hanover County Public Schools and was later employed as a tractor trailer driver for many years until his retirement. John was a jovial and fun loving person who enjoyed working outside and he was an excellent provider for his family and friends. John leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 50 years, Nancy Bray; one faithful son Lawrence Bray and two loving grandchildren Lawrence, Jr. and Lauren who were the love of his life. Three sisters, Doris Morris (John Irvine), Ann Smith (Jack deceased), Rosa Taylor; fourt brothers , Roscoe (Marie-deceased) Robert Lee (deceased) Leon (Arnethia), Thomas (Deirtra) and Saunders (deceased); a host of nieces, nephews and friends, devoted Keyvinne Folks and Sapp Waddy. God saw you were getting tired and decided you needed to be free. So he put his arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me" With tearful eyes we watched you and say you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. It only proved to us, God only takes the best.
