Obituary

Mr. John Lee (Jack) Jackson departed this life on October 13, 2014 at his niece home in Suitland, MD; formerly of Ruther Glen VA. He was born on June 22, 1926 in Madison County, VA to the late John Andrew Jackson and Fannie Dade-Jackson. John heard a voice on Monday, October 13, 2014 saying come unto me; your race has been run. Our hearts were deeply saddened in the loss of our loved one, John Lee Jackson. He was preceded in death by wife, Ruth Ross-Jackson; sons, George Jackson & Howard Fells; two loving sisters, Mable Jackson and Catherine Jackson-Joiner; brother, Raymond Jackson; Grandson, Ronnie Jackson; Granddaughter, Jacqui Jackson-Hargrove; and Great Granddaughter, Naomi Jackson. He moved to Northern VA and entered into the workforce. He had many jobs during his working career but because of his passion for cars; he was also employed by a variety of automotive dealerships: JKJ Chevrolet, Koons Ford and Rosenthal as a transporter until his retirement. He also worked for the Cola-Coca Bottling Company in Arlington, VA with his brother-in-law, Ray Ross. Jack was baptized at an early age at Rock Hall Baptist Church in Wolftown, VA. He was a faithful member of Mt. Salem Baptist since May 18, 1975 and was ordained as a Deacon on June 6, 1976. He was a dedicated deacon, member of the men and senior choir, treasurer and community activist. He loved his church family and his community, family and friends. Jack married Ruth Ross and they worked in Northern VA and lived in Arlington, VA during the week with Ruth's cousin, Moody (Putt) Bazley. On the week-ends, they commuted to their home in Ruther Glen, VA. They had a loving and beautiful relationship until her passing in 1988. He was a fun person, enjoyed his conversation with family and friends. He communicated with everyone and was there for anyone who needed help. "D" Jack as he was called by some was always on the move, he lived his life to the fullest, never moving to fast, just tipping on his toes or driving slow in his car to visit a family member or friends where ever. He had a name or phrase for everyone as he traveled around with his "cigar" in his hand. He gave to many, and there was always a lending hand to help anyone that was in need. If he had it, you had it....his kindness and love will always be with us; "Forever in our Hearts. John leaves to cherish his memory: a caring daughter, Maria Jackson-Judkins, Temple Hills, MD; loving sister, Lena Jackson-Ross, Arlington, VA; 16 Grandchildren, 53 Great grandchildren and 48 Great-great grandchildren; brother-in-laws; Edmond Baylor & Charlie Ross (Viola); daughter-in-law, Margaret Fells; along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends; loving friends (Virgie Anderson, Marian Tunstall, Brenda Woodfolk, and Katherine and Gregory Ferguson).
