Obituary

Joseph Eugene Foster, aka Poppa Joe, was born Jan. 4, 1943, to the late Benjamin Franklin Yates and Lugene Foster. After completing Carver Consolidated High School in 1961, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served on the USS Constellation on the flight deck for 4 years.

After an honorable discharge, he drove trucks for McLean Trucking Company up until 1973. Later in life, he went to work at VCU as a loan officer until the company shutdown. Some of his favorite pastime hobbies were watching his Westerns and coaching at the YMCA.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Thomas Eugene Foster and daughter Thressa Louise Foster.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Eloise Clark Foster. Daughters; Angela (Anthony) Alexander, Melissa (Derrick) Pettiford. Son; Kermit Clark. Sister; Valeria (Pernell) Douglas. Sister-in-law; Mary Jones. Brother-in-laws; Minister William Clark, George (George Ann) Clarke, and Michael (Liz) Clark. Six Grandchildren; Brittany, TJ, Isaiah, Kermisha, She'Tora, Shante. Nine Great Grandchildren; Briley, Sonjay. Jesavian, Raylen, Shiraj, Li'ante, Zariyah, Zy'mir and Sidney. His best friend/brother Jerry Mitchell whom they graduated and served together, and a host of nieces and nephews.
