Joyce Elane
(Hall) Goodall
February 24, 1950 – December 11, 2024
Joyce Elane Hall Goodall 74, of Ashland, Virginia quietly passed away with her family at her side on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
Joyce was affectionately known as "GaGa" by her family and friends. She was born on February 24, 1950, to the late Arthur K and Lucinda A Hall. At an early age, she was baptized at the Brown Grove Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health declined in August of this year. She was educated in the Hanover County School System and graduated from John M. Gandy High School in 1968.
After high school Joyce began working various jobs within the Ashland community including the Ashland Shirt Factory. She then later worked with B.C. Wood Products where she retired after her health began to fail.
Joyce loved her children and her family. She loved talking with her nieces and nephews to get all the latest information. You would often find Joyce sitting on the sofa watching westerns or listening to Lionel Richie. Gaga was the fastest reader in the Brown Grove Community. She could read an entire novel in a day.
Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays. She would start planning in September making sure everyone had their calendars clear. She would be excited to have everyone at her house, and she would take her post to supervise the festivities. She had a special talent that many didn't know about. She was the family ear piercer. She pierced all her nieces' ears before they started elementary school.
She loved to travel to Arizona to see her son, André, his wife Sarah and grandkids, Alex and André and she took a cruise or two with the family. Joyce was a quiet soul, but she always had smile and a chuckle whenever you saw her.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother Arthur and Lucinda Hall; three brothers, Arthur C, Melvin, Robert Sr, Hall; two nephews, Delano and Larry Hall; one niece, Cynthia Hall; Joyce leaves to cherish wonderful memories, her three beautiful children, Rachael, Howard A (Sarah), Trina (Emoni); five grandchildren, Devin Bell, Jada Shorty, Tamia Abrams, Alexandria and André Goodall; one brother, Rev. Earl B. Hall, Sr. (Almon); one sister, Irene H. Jones; three sisters-in-law, Marlene, Mahala, Almon Hall; 5 nieces and 5 nephews, Anthony Hall (Malinda), Cheryl Capehart (David), Carolyn Alston (Gary), Robin Patterson (Vandoar), Robert Hall, Jr. (Ernestine), Lynette Davis, Kevin Hall, Earl Hall, Jr., (Tawana) Rodney Hall, (Cassandra), Melanie Bowers (LeMar). Joyce will be missed by all who knew her. Her smile and laughter will forever be in our hearts. Until we see you again GaGa, rest on.
