Judith Renee Logan Smith, affectionately known to family and friends as "Judy" received her wings on April 4, 2024
On April 8, 1957, at Whitaker Hospital in Newport News, VA,. Judy was the second of 6 children born to Leroy Sr. and Naomi Logan. The family later moved to Washington, DC in 1960. Her relationship with God started at an early age at Jericho Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Jericho Youth Choir which later became the Jericho Young Adults. She attended Taft Jr. High and graduated from McKinley High School in 1974. Upon graduation, she worked various jobs including the federal government at the United States Soldiers and Airmen's Home. Later she began her career with Bell Atlantic, which is now known as Verizon. She worked for Verizon until her retirement in 2017 due to her illness.
Judy's faith in God never waived. When Judy moved to VA, she resided in Ashland, VA. She later became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. As a member of Jerusalem, she was a very attentive and persistent Servant of the Lord.
Judy met and fell in love with Marvin D. Smith, Sr. and was married on September 28,1995. Later, Judy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. As a survivor, she worked diligently with Susan G. Komen on the many, many walks and other projects for Cancer Awareness. Judy loved Holidays, Cookouts and Birthday Parties. She came up with the most elaborate themes. She loved to cook and had the best recipes.
Judy was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Logan, Jr and Stephen "Stebo" Duane Logan and her nephew, Brian Logan. Also preceded in death, her father-in- law, Otis Smith.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Marvin D. Smith, Sr., her daughter, Elaine Logan and her Fiancé Terrell Washington, a Special Niece/Daughter, JaShawn Logan, one step son, Marvin Smith, Jr., her parents, Leroy, Sr. and Naomi Logan, four loving grandsons, DeVonte, KenShawn, Kyle and Julius, two great granddaughters, Kensley and Kennedi, two sisters, Kim Cooper and Angela Logan, one brother, Kevin B. Logan, Sr. (Crystal), Mother-in-law, Hazel Smith, brother-in-law, Oscar Smith (Betty Jean) and sister-in-law, Sandra "Faye" Jones (Ishmael), three aunts Ernestine Davis (Gene), Marion Dunn and Novella Lewis, one uncle Howard "Dickie" Bell (Rose), a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Rest in peace Judy. We love you, but God loves you best!
