Obituary

Deaconess Julia Jackson Coley, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 30, 2016.

"Mama Julia" (as she was affectionately known) was born February 27,1921 to the late Thomas and Hester Jackson in King William County, Virginia. She was educated in the King William  County Public School System. For approximately 30 years, Mama Julia was employed by the
Seton House at St. Joseph's Villa. She used her culinary skills to help prepare meals for the
residents.

At an early age, Mama Julia accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She joined Oak Grove     Baptist Church and put her heart into serving the Lord. She served as a Deaconess, a Missionary, part of the Sunday School Ministry, sung in the choir and was a member of the hospitality committee. When ever there was an event going on at the church, Mama Julia supplied the baked goods.

Deaconess Coley and her husband, Deacon Coley, also were a vital part of the creation of the church's youth choir. She was an active and faithful member of Oak Grove for the majority of her adult life.

In 2006, she felt led by the Lord to join Total Praise Worship Center. She was the Mother of the Church, served in the Deaconess Ministry, and was an active and faithful member of the church until Thanksgiving Day when she was hospitalized. From the youngest member to the oldest in the church family, Deaconess Julia Coley was unquestionably loved by everyone.

If you knew Mama Julia at all, then you know there were 4 things that truly mattered to her:

God: She loved the Lord with all her heart and soul. She was a living example of his goodness and mercy.
Her Family : Mama Julia always said the key to long life is to honor thy mother and thy father. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She took pride in teaching everyone, from her children to her great grandchildren, how to cook.
Her Church: If she wasn't at home, you could find Mama Julia at her church home enjoying the word and praising the Lord. Her favorite word was Mercy. She loved her pastor of 30 years, Pastor Rickie Hopkins, and Co-Pastor Hopkins aka "Girlfriend" as if they were her own children.
Cooking : She was known throughout the community for her fruitcakes, cookies and rolls. Ask   anybody who had those rolls and they will tell you; she could have given those White House Rolls people a run for their money.

Mama Julia was the sweetest, kindest, and most generous woman one would ever want to meet. She never had a harsh thing to say about anyone, always found a positive word, and lived by the

motto, "If I can help somebody as I pass along the way, then my living will not be in vain."

"Who can find a virtuous woman?for her price is far above rubies.

Mama Julia was a virtuous woman .

A Limb has fallen

A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says,
"Grieve not for me."
Remember the best times,
the laughter the song,
The good life I lived while I was strong
Continue my heritage,
I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with our life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again.
