Obituary

Karlton De'Von Davis, 31 of Phoenix Arizona succumbed to his injuries he suffered from an unfortunate accident on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

Karlton was born September 16, 1991, in Richmond, Virginia to Lynette Hall Davis and Louis M. Davis, III.  He was baptized at an early age at Greater Nazarene Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Earl B. Hall, Sr. where he served as an usher until he relocated to Phoenix Arizona.  During his teen years, he was a member of Gap 4 Lyfe which is a mentoring program designed to help young men ease into adulthood. Gap 4 Lyfe was founded by his cousin, Kevin Hall and Karlton was eager to be a part of this group of young men.  Once he completed the program, he returned the favor by becoming a mentor to other young men. He believed in each one reach one. Karlton was a 2009 graduate of Hanover High School in Mechanicsville, VA.  During his high school years, he played football and ran track.  After graduation, he continued to play football while gaining his education at Hampton-Sydney where he earned his bachelor's degree in fine arts in 2013.  While at Hampton-Sydney he was a member of the Minority Student Union where he could voice his concerns about inclusion, acceptance, religion, and global awareness.  Everyone who knew Karlton, knew that he was culturally aware of those in his presence.

After graduation, Karlton worked various jobs, saving his money so that he could make the big move to Arizona.  We will never forget the day when he packed his car and said, "I'm driving to Arizona to start my new career at Aramark".  He left everyone in awe at the 3-day trip it took to get there.  Still seeking career advancement, in 2019 he began working at Indeed.com as a recruiter until his untimely death.

He loved photography and art.  In his spare time, you would find him capturing pictures of nature or some type of abstract art. Every now and again, one would find him writing quotes or poetry.  Who knew that Willie Nelson "Just Breathe" would be his favorite song and inspiration.

In 2020, Karlton met Maggie Franiuk and together they were raising their beautiful daughter Finley Prez aka "Big Girl".  He was the best girl dad!

Karlton "with a K", was a quiet soul but had a smile that would light up a room.  He loved wearing his vibrant colors and dressed in his own unique way.  His moto was "If I win, everybody wins".

Many loved ones preceded him in death; however, his favorite was his nannie, Virginia Jones Hall.  He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories; one daughter, Finley Prez Davis; fiancé, Maggie Franiuk; mother, Lynette Hall Davis; father, Louis M. Davis, III; two brothers, Antoine Davis, Ayonden Coleman; paternal grandmother, Regina Davis; four aunts, 2 which are devoted, Cheryl (David) Capehart and Carolyn (Gary) Alston; devoted cousin, Larry Braxton; Godmother, Rachael Goodall; God sister, Kiara Beasley; Honorary Godparents, Linwood Lawson and April Fennell.  His Arizona family includes Andre (Sarah) Goodall, John and Suzanne Franiuk; aunts and cousins that live on Pear Tree Drive and a host of other family and friends.  Karlton often said, I may live in Arizona but there's no place like home.

"I don't know where my road is going yet but I know you will be there with me the whole ride."
