Kathryn Alberta
King
November 29, 1941 – May 19, 2019
"I will praise thee, Oh Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O Thou most high" Psalms 9:1-2
On Sunday, May 19 th , 2019, our beloved Kathryn peacefully transitioned from labor to reward with her devoted husband at her side. Kathryn, affectionately known as "Foot", was born on November 29 th , 1941 to the late Oliver and Ethelene Johnson. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Oliver, Jr., Sandy and Gandy Johnson, and three sisters, Helen King, Joyce Johnson, and Jean Hopson.
At an early age, Kathryn was baptized and became a member of Jericho Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. C.C. Dickerson. She served faithfully until her health began to fail. The lyrics of the song, "May the works I've done speak for me" are truly a testament of Kathryn's dedication to God and her church. She was the first Youth Supervisor, faithful member of the usher board, Secretary of the Sunday School, member of the hospitality blue team, women's fellowship, and various choirs. Seeking to learn more of God's word, Kathryn attended the Ashland Extension of the Fredericksburg Bible Institute. She was also an active member of the Mattaponi Baptist Association.
Kathryn was joined in holy matrimony to Cleveland King for over fifty years. To this union two children were born, Hope and Cleveland, Jr. Rarely, would you see "Foot" without her Cleveland. They were a fun-loving couple who enjoyed life to the fullest. She also enjoyed spending time and talking on the phone with her sisters at any time of the night. God and her family were everything to "Foot".
Along with her faithful husband and devoted children, to continue her legacy of love, are seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, sisters, Ethel (Frank) Cole, Margaret (William) Roye, Ruby Washington, Dorothy Boone, Nancy Bray, Linda (Carroll) Moore, seven sisters-in-law, seven brothers-in-law, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, family and friends.
