Lenora Renee
Baylor
March 2, 1953 – December 25, 2022
Reflection of the Life of Lenora Renee Baylor
Lenora Renee Baylor was born March 2, 1953, in Washington, DC, to the late Arnita Evans
Scott-Baylor and the late James Blanton Baylor. She was the youngest of three children. She
was affectionately known as Renee, Nae, Aunt, and Granny. She gave her life to Christ at a
young age and was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Washington, DC under the
leadership of Pastor Khalfani Drummer until her untimely death.
She was educated in the Washington DC school system where she graduated from McKinley
Technical School. Renee worked for the Federal Government and with the United States Post
Office and later Department of Commerce where she retired in 2009.
Renee had a love for dogs, and she really adored her dog Snuggles, photography, music,
traveling and coming down to the country. She loved her family and especially her roots in
Caroline County, Virginia. Her contagious, affectionate smile would light up any room. She
fought a good fight and when life presented her with serious health challenges, her daughter,
son, and devoted, adoring sister, Denise, never left her side. Her bother-in-law, Ernest
Hanible was fervent and dutiful helpful her with tasks she could no longer complete herself.
She called him her Angel.
Renee was the steadfast caretaker of her long-time friend Kenrick Skerritt (d. 2010) and her
father, James Baylor who proceeded her in death in April 2012.
When she became a grandmother, it was one of the happiest days of her life. When Isaiah
was born, she saw him first and immediately fell in love, her glow and doting smile were
priceless. She was always lovesome and doting with him and spoiled him like grandma's do
