Leroy Lewis,
Jr.
October 30, 1961 – October 29, 2021
L eroy Lewis, Jr., beloved son of the late Naomi Octavia and Leroy Lewis, Sr. was born on October 30, 1961 in Hanover, Virginia.
H e graduated from Lee Davis High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia. He furthered his education at North Carolina Wesleyan in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Leroy received his Associates Degree from ITT in Richmond, Virginia.
L eroy accepted Christ early in life and served as an alter boy at Calvary Episcopal Church, Hanover, Virginia. He joined and was baptized at Greater Nazarene Baptist Church, Hanover, Virginia where he served on the Usher Board and in the Children Church. He was a member of the Male Choir at United Freedom Gospel Church. He was ordained as an Elder at Cathedral of Judah. He later transferred his membership of Speaking Spirit Ministries in Henrico, Virginia.
H is career began at Gray Drug Fair where he became a store manager. He was formerly employed by Westvaco, Reynolds Metals, Colortree, AB&B and TemperPack as a machine operator.
L eroy affectionately was known to his family as Junior. He loved helping people and spending time with his family. Leroy was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved sports, as most who knew him knew that the San Francisco 49ers was his favorite football team. Leroy also enjoyed watching old television shows like Andy Griffith and Sanford and Son. He also loved fishing, taking pictures and taking care of others. Most recently, he loved walking in the park feeding the ducks and having long conversation as he held his wife's hand.
L eroy was a very considerate and warm-hearted person who had a great impact on everyone he met. He had a heart of gold and a personality that would warm up any room. Leroy will be remembered as a person that never took anything or anyone for granted. He lived his life to the fullest and loved his family.
H e is preceded in death by his sister, Rhonda Lewis-Hill and a brother, Karl C. Lewis.
On Friday, October 29, 2021, God called Leroy to be with his loved ones that have gone on before him.
H e leaves to cherish his memories and legacy to his caring and loving wife, Renae L. Lewis; beloved son, Lamonn Lewis and daughter, Lanita Lewis; adored grandson, Kingston Lewis; sister, Nachay Lewis; aunt, Helen Jackson; mother-in-law, Audrey Puller (aka "his second mom"); father-in-law, James Puller; brother-in-law and best friend, Alvin Puller (Kathy) and Deon Puller; sister-in-law, Renita Williams; devoted cousin, Carolyn Fowlkes (Lynwood); nine nieces, four nephews; a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
