Obituary

Leroy Logan, Sr. affectionately known to his family and friends as "Crew", "Daddy", "Grand Daddy", "Big Daddy" and "Uncle Leroy", received his wings on Monday, December 15, 2025, peacefully in his home in Woodford, VA.

Leroy was born on August 10, 1934, in Pittsylvania County, Viriginia to the late Theodore "Ross" and Rebecca Logan. Leroy was the fourth of nine children from this union. At a young age, Leroy moved to Newport News, VA where he was employed at the Shipyard. During this time, he met and married the love of his life, Naomi, on February 22, 1955. This love lasted for 70+ years.

In 1957, Leroy and Naomi moved to Philadelphia, PA for a brief period and returned to Newport News. In 1960, they moved to Washington, DC for the next 41 years. Leroy once said, "A man is not a man unless he owned his own land", and in 2001, Leroy practiced what he preached, he purchased 5 acres of land in Woodford, VA.

In the early 1960's, Leroy worked 3 jobs to support his family. He worked at Fowler Motor's during the day, Catholic University in the evening and drove cabs at night. He also took classes at night at Armstrong Adult Center and received his GED. Everyone knew that Leroy's passion was working on cars. Leroy started working at Martin's Volvo where he retired after 40+ years. He could not sit idly by, so he began working part-time at Ladysmith Convenience Site until his health would not permit him to continue in mid-2024.

Preceded in death, his loving wife, Naomi Bell Logan, 5 brothers, Elbert, Melvin, Onis, Garland and Augusta, and 1 sister, Novella Lewis. Also preceded in death are three children, Stephen "Stebo", Leroy, Jr. "Slim" and Judith "Judy" and one grandson, Brian.

Leroy leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Kim and Angela, one son Kevin (Crystal), 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters Marion Dunn and Ernestine Davis, one brother-in-law Howard Bell (Rosetta), and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, close friends and loved ones.
