Lessie Celestine Mickens, born to the late Jessie and Kate Robinson on November 28, 1926, in Doswell, VA (Hanover County). She transitioned to her heavenly home on November 27, 2023, just one day shy of her birthday. She was the last of nine (9) siblings, and 1 foster brother.

She confessed that she believed that Jesus was born, died, was buried and rose again on the 3rd day at 12 years old at the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Doswell, VA and was baptized in the South Anna River under the leadership of the Pastor Rev. E. E. Robinson and had been a faithful member of the Sunday School Class, Church and many other ministries.

She graduated from the Hanover County Training School in 1945. She loved to travel. She married her husband Everette Louis Mickens and to this union six children were born.

Mrs. Mickens was employed by Homemades by Suzanne's for 21 plus years. She retired from Homemades by Suzanne's. Mrs. Mickens was a faithful servant of the Lord.

She loved her church family. She was a member of the Hanover Ladies Club, Seniors in Action for 22 years, the AARP #3553 in Ashland, VA, the Usher's Ministry, Senior Bible Class and the Lott Cary Missionary Convention for nine years with 4th Baptist Church in Richmond, VA.

She was preceded in death by her late husband Everette Louis Mickens; three children Clinice, Louis, and Wade Mickens. She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted daughters Vetta "Fay" Brooks (Levi) and Delores "Novella" Mickens; one devoted son Wayne Mickens, Sr. (Phyllis); 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
