Lillie Bell Gilpin Ford , 79, of Beaverdam, Virginia, passed away suddenly on December 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Early Life
Lillie was born in Beaverdam, Virginia, on September 13, 1946, to the late Deacon John Gilpin, Sr. and Deaconess Ethel Mae Gilpin. Her upbringing in Beaverdam and the guidance of her devoted parents played a significant role in shaping the person she became.
Life of Faith and Service
Lillie was baptized and joined St. James Baptist Church in Beaverdam, VA under the leadership of Rev. L. M. Bray, Sr at an early age. Her faith was central to her life and holding herself accountable to learn God's will for her life she attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School regularly. She expressed her devotion to the Lord by singing on both the Inspirational and Senior choirs. Lillie also took pride in serving her church in various capacities, including being active in the Hospitality ministry and the Nurses' Unit.
Education and Career
Lillie received her education through the Hanover County Public School System, where she built the foundation for her lifelong dedication and hard work. After completing her studies, she began her journey at Tyson Foods, previously known as Holly Farms. Lillie devoted many years to her job there until she reached retirement, exemplifying commitment and perseverance throughout her years.
Family and Loved Ones
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her four daughters: Yvette Gilpin, Linette Towles, Veronica Ford, and Andrea Archie (Reginald); her siblings, Fannie Clorey, John Gilpin (Sandra), Dr. Clemmie Gilpin, and Jerry Gilpin. She leaves behind seventeen grandchildren—Kendra Gilpin-Butler (Devon), Travis Gilpin, Jolesa, Devin and Deviny Ford, Desirea, Robert, Trovon, Earl, Michael, Dashell, Shamere, Soniequa, Shawndre, Shadasia, Saivon, and Tre'Shaun—and twenty great-grandchildren. Lillie will be remembered by her devoted friend, Keyshell McDonald, and her devoted cousin, Carolyn Rivers, along with numerous other family members and friends.
