Linwood Grant, 92, of Ruther Glen, Virginia, passed away on August 21, 2026, at Samaritan’s Compassionate Hospice in Voorhees, New Jersey.
Born on July 28, 1934, in Jackson, North Carolina, to the late Bud and Geneva Grant, Linwood was the eldest of three children. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon and Clarence.
For 68 years, Linwood shared a life with his beloved wife, the late Odessa Grant. Together, they raised six children. The couple resided in New York City for many years before retiring to Ruther Glen, Virginia, in 1993. Upon moving, they joined Mangohick Baptist Church in Hanover, where Linwood had served as a Deacon. He found deep peace and spiritual renewal in his daily practice of reading and studying the Bible, a quiet ritual that anchored his days.
Linwood’s wisdom, strength, and steady presence was the foundation of his family. Though his journey on earth has concluded, his influence remains deeply woven into the lives of those he loved. His family finds comfort in knowing he is now at rest, free from pain and held in the loving arms of our Lord. He leaves behind a legacy of faith and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
“Blessed are they that mourn; for they shall be comforted.”
Matthew 5:4 (KJV)
