Lorenza Melvin Wilkerson was born July 25, 1937. He departed this life on Sunday December 8, 2024.

"Melvin" as he was affectionately called was the seventh child born in Doswell, Virginia to Tom and Lillie Wilkerson.

Melvin was employed at several department stores in Richmond, VA. Some of them were Lane Bryant and Lerner's. He also worked for an Assistant Living business in Richmond, VA.

He loved the Motown artists; some of whom were Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson and The Jackson 5 (Michael Jackson). Melvin loved to sit in his house and play the music loudly when he had visitors.

Melvin loved Richmond, VA and that is where he spent his life. Melvin would visit his family and friends in Doswell, VA. However, he always wanted to get back to Richmond before dark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Thomas Wilkerson, Shirley Wilkerson and Henry Wilkerson Sr; three sisters; Betty Ann Shelton, Ida Caterine Cary and Alberta Johnson.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memories, one sister; Corine Lucas; one brother-in-law; Warrick Lucas Jr.; one sister-in-law; Arlene Wilkerson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
