Lorraine Denise Cosby Winston , was born December 22, 1959 in Newport News, Virginia to the late William Cosby and Iovra Russell.

Raised by her older sisters, Lorraine attended Newport News Public Schools and enjoyed home economics. She was a Girl Scout and participated in dance class at the YMCA. Lorraine later moved to Petersburg, Virginia and graduated in the class of 1978 from Prince George High School. She furthered her education at Virginia State University, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Dietetic studies.

Lorraine accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized by the Rev. Dr. M. Ivory Jefferson, at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple (Hampton, VA). She was a faithful and dedicated member for 32 years at Crusade for Christ Christian Church Ministries under the leadership of Bishop John L. Harris. There she served as devoted Usher and Youth Camp volunteer. Throughout her life she bared various titles and was loved by every person she encountered.

On December 21, 2020 our Mom, Wife, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and dear friend peacefully transitioned and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved siblings Betty Russell and Wayne Russell and her Mother and Father in-law Alfred Sr. and Pearl Winston.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories; her Husband of 32 years, Barry Winston, her daughters Natasha Cosby-Willie (Rondell) and Jessica Winston. Her grandchildren: Elijah Willie, Nathan Willie and Winter Raine Winston. Her children Terrance Smith, Sherry Dabney, Darice Smithers, Terry Williams, Chaka Wade, Kelley Williams and Michael Johnson (deceased). Her extended grandchildren: Michael Dabney, Jasmine Robinson, Mark Gray, Maiyah Gray, Dylan smith, Anthony Saunders, Sydney Dawson, and Brooklyn Johnson. Her siblings Rachel Hill, Elaine Russell-Harris (William), Darlene Cosby and Douglas McClain and Aunt Loretta Kirkland. Her longtime devoted friends and care givers Jenette Braxton and James Tynes. Her "Best Friend: in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD", Valerie Plenty-Chester and a host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.

Lorraine loved serving the Lord and his people. She enjoyed praise dancing, traveling and family gatherings. Lorraine was a mother to any child in need and opened her home to countless children and families. She was a true inspiration to all.
