Marcenia Andrea
Mines "Cookie"
March 23, 1956 – June 8, 2024
To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Marcenia Andrea Mines, known to us all as "Cookie", entered her heavenly home on Saturday, June 8th, 2024. To know Cookie was to love her. She was always full of life and full of laughter. Cookie was loved by many, and she loved everyone. Cookie is unforgettable and truly one in a million. She loved her family and always wore a smile. She had a way of making you feel comfortable, and she will always be remembered in our hearts.
Cookie loved music and back in the day, she would buy all the latest records. She would play music all day long on Saturdays. Sunday mornings started off with gospel music and that was just how it was going to be. Cookie loved to draw. One of her favorite drawings was that of Betty Boop. She also wrote poetry and loved to read Harlequin romance novels. She had her own personal library filled with romantic novels from the top of the shelf to the bottom.
Cookie graduated from Union High School, top of her class, and was smart as a whip. Cookie walked her own path even though she received a full scholarship to Mary Washington College.
Cookie was a homemaker and focused all her energy caring for her children. Once her children started school and were much older, Cookie entered the work force and was employed by the Budget Inn located in Ashland, VA. She worked there for several years. She was later employed by Kings Dominion where she became a manager. Cookie worked at Kings Dominion for over 15 years and served as a manager until her health began to fail.
Cookie was preceded in death by the love of her life, "Skull" Lorenzo Harris and grandchildren Orlando Anderson Jr. and Trey Mines.
She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Manantino (Mann) Mines and Dante (Donnie) Mines; twin daughters, Ashley and Alexis Mines; grandchildren, Manantino Jr., Quita Tillman, Donne Mines, Zavion Goodall, Dante Jr., Kayla, Kennedy, and Damian Mines; great grandchildren, Zavion Jr. and Kavren Tillman; mother, Sarah Mines; siblings, Christopher Mines, Tina Mines, Cherry Mines, Terry Mines, Hope Sims and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Cookie had many lifelong friends (too many to list) and devoted cousins Gayle Goodall and Carolyn Smithers.
Cookie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. We will miss her dearly.
The Lord has appeared of old to me saying, yes, I have loved you with everlasting love; therefore, with love and kindness, I have drawn to you (Jeremiah 31:3).
