Marian Irma Quash, departed earth for her heavenly home on Thursday, May 14, 2026 after a brief illness. Marian, the eldest daughter of Jennie J. and Moses Quash(deceased) was born November 29, 1926 in Doswell, Virginia.  Marian attended Caroline County Public Schools and after her graduation from Union High School in 1945, she headed to New York, in pursuit of her dreams.  In June of 1947, she received her certificate of completion from The La Roberts, Inc., Modernistic School of Beauty Culture, Brooklyn, New York and was granted her Cosmetology license in 1948. She spent over 45 years in Brooklyn, and retired as a Case Manager with the New York Department of Social Services. In the mid-nineties she returned to live in Ashland, and has resided there the last 32 years.

"Bunch" as she was affectionately called was fiercely independent, witty, sophisticated, and honest to a fault.  She was a faithful member of Second Mt Zion Baptist Church of Dawn, Virginia  and as a teen was an inaugural member of the Junior Choir.  While living in New York she joined Zion Baptist Church of Brooklyn.  She was still driving well into her nineties.

Marian leaves to mourn her departure, two sisters, Arletha Rucker and Viola Abbott; one sister-in-law Shelah Quash; one niece, four nephews, several great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and devoted friends; Eloise Romaine, Dorothy Tyler, and Mabel Holloway.

Per her wishes a graveside memorial will be held on Sunday, May 31 at I:00 PM at Second Mount Zion Baptist Church Memorial Gardens, 31234 Old Dawn Road, Hanover VA.  Reverend Marvin Fields, Pastor .
