Obituary

M arion D elores B rooks was the fifth of nine children born to the late Deaconess Marion B. Brooks and Deacon Thomas J. Brooks. She was born September 30, 1945 in Henrico County, Virginia. She went home to be with Lord on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Henrico Doctors Hospital Parham Road Campus.

Marion with love and affection was known to her family as Delores. She grew up in Henrico County and was educated in the Henrico County Public School System. There she attended the Virginia Randolph High School and graduated with her class of 1964.

Marion accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Saint Mark Baptist church under the leadership of Rev.Clifton Whitaker, Sr. As a faithful member of Saint Mark; she actively served until present, on the St. Mark Gospel Chorus (an original member), the Combined Choir, the Women's Ministry, and the Trustee Ministry.

Marion retired in 2006 from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she was employed as a Claims Analyst after 33 years of devoted service. She enjoyed watching her soap operas, game shows and the Lifetime Movie Channel. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family. Her home was Home to all of us. She loved family gatherings, and she always opened her home for the family summer cookouts. She always had plans in order for Thanksgiving and let's not forget about Christmas Brunch at her house on Christmas morning. She will dearly be missed, "Love You Delores."

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Gladys Payne and Theresa Hicks, and a brother Deacon Thomas Brooks. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her son Jason (Krystal), granddaughter Londyn Brooks, grandson Jason Brooks, Jr.; two sisters Mae Walker, Deaconess Clara Hayden (Deacon Charlie); three brothers; Robert Brooks (Dorothy), Deacon Douglas Brooks (Deaconess Mary), James Brooks (Ruth); sister-in-law Deacon Julia Winkey; brothers in law, Deacon Purcell Payne and William Hairston, and a host of nieces (two devoted Gale Walker-Jones and Dana Brooks), nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, goddaughter (Tiffany Jackson), cousins, other relatives and friends (three devoted coworkers and friends) Cynthia, Sylvia, and Gretchen; extended family Melvin, Rushon, Justin, Trinity, Kamel.
