Martha Lou Johnson Giles was the daughter of the late Nancy and Thaddeus Johnson. Her life began on September 05, 1936 in Hanover County, Virginia. She accepted Christ and was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church at an early age. After graduating from John M. Gandy High School in 1954, she attended Hampton Institute and later graduated from VA Union University. She was a 3rd grade teacher and retired from the Hanover County School system. Before her long illness, she was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church Missionary Ministry, a Sunday School teacher and she started the church Nursery. She loved gardening and most of all she loved caring for and guiding her two grandsons. She was preceded in death by one brother, John Johnson, Sr. and husband Victor O. Giles. She leaves to cherish her memories two devoted daughters, Wanda Adams and Michelle Holmes; two grandsons, Paul Adams, Jr. and Chase Holmes; one great granddaughter Parker Adams; sisters, Marie Valentine (John) and Nancy Thomas; one sister-in-law Annie M. Smith; brothers-in-law Reverend Benjamin H Giles, Jr. (Ardenar) and Andrew T. Giles, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. During her long illness she was given compassionate care by her daughter Michelle Holmes; Claudia Brodie; Joyce Garlic; Joan Oliver and Albert Whitaker
