Mary Berniece (Niece) Clark was born on September 23, 1935, to the late Alice Madaline and Alexander Henderson in Hanover, County. Mary departed this life on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Henrico Doctors Hospital where she was surrounded by her loved ones, who ensured that she was not alone as she made her way home to her heavenly father.

Mary was predeceased by two brothers, Gentel L. Henderson and Clifford R. Henderson and three sisters Barbara A. Clark, Margaret L. Clark, Alice M. Robinson and ex-husband (and good friend) Cleveland Clark.

Mary was baptized in her youth and remained steadfast in her faith. She obediently spread the gospel and compellingly shared her testimony to all that she encountered. Mary was a long-standing member of Bethany Baptist Church, attending regularly in her Sunday best until her health began to decline.

Mary received her education in the Hanover County Public School system, for which, she was later employed as a bus driver. Mary also worked as a cook at Shoney's, Holly Farm Production Plant and retired as a cook from the Montpelier Food Center. She also spent time serving as the community's grandma caring for children with the same nurturing, loving care as she extended to everyone she met. In addition to her official employment, Mary also was an amazing cook, seamstress, upholster, gardener, life coach and handywoman.

Mary leaves to cherish her loving memories, two daughters: Cynthia Clark Waddy (Randolph) and Annette Clark. Grandchildren Randolph Jackson (Evelyn), Shari Waddy, Brian Waddy (Jessica), Jamol Waddy (Letisia), Teela Tyler (Antonio), Shanele Dunson (Shaunte) and Lesley Waddy who she loved like a grandson (Brooke). Great Grandchildren, Jasmine, RJ, Nalaiah, Jeremiah, Kimya, Latrell, Isabella, Auri, Kevon, Nadia, Amare, Tyari, Micah, Robert, Damien, Griffin (Regina) and one beloved great grandchild Jaden who preceded her in death. Seven Great-Great Grandchildren.

She also leaves loving memories to her devoted sisters Ellen E. Fleming and Grace A. Smith. One Aunt Juanita Henderson as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, friends and wonderful neighbors. A special devoted step- niece Clara James Scott.
