Faithful servant Mary Laverne Curtis departed her life on August 18, 2023, at 7am with her beloved husband, Spencer Jefferson (June) by her side.
She was born December 25, 1948, to the late Deacon Frank Woody and Deaconess Nancy Woody. Preceding Mary in passing was her sister Nancy R. Starks and grandson Michael Jamahl Curtis.
She was a graduate of John M. Gandy High School class of 1967, "Go Tigers." She worked at the Housing Authority, UPS, Hanover Manor, and Richmond Restaurant.
She leaves to cherish her memories her best friend & husband of 54 years Spencer Jefferson Curtis, Jr.; two sons Spencer Neil Curtis (Cynthia) and Andre` Jamahl Curtis (Erica); 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; father-in-law Deacon Spencer Jefferson, Sr.; sisters Juanita Elaine Braxton (Rev. Roger Braxton, Sr.), Cora Jeanette Wyatt (Fleming), and Cynthia C. Smith; brother William Woody; brothers-in-law Wayne Starks and Minister Graylen Curtis (Brigid): sisters-in-law Cleo Anderson (Ernest) and Juwan Troublefield (Rick): a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
