Mary Edith Thomas “Honey” was born on September 26, 1944, in Montpelier, Virginia and departed this life on August 27, 2026, at the age of 81, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hattie Mae Thomas and James Vernon Thomas, Sr.; brother, James Vernon Thomas, Jr.; sisters, Edna Lewis and Lillian Thomas.

Mary grew up in Montpelier, Virginia; attended Hanover County Public School System. She was an employee of National Linen in Richmond, Virginia and retired after many years of service. She also worked for Ukrops and finally retiring from Henrico Public Schools as a cook.

At an early age, Mary was baptized and joined Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Her love for God and dedication to service allow her gifts and talents to be used in several ministries of the church which includes, usher, hospitality, missionary board, and singing in the choir. Mary was a regular attendee at Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and various services offered by the church.

Mary, better known as “Honey,” was the mother of one son (Calvin) whom she loved with all her heart. Her love for family was unlimited. She adored her siblings, nieces, nephews and especially her grandchildren. Mary enjoyed her family annual vacations. She was also an avid bowler and enjoyed being a part of the bowling league.

Mary leaves a loving legacy and memories to her family and friends: son, Calvin Thomas; grandchildren, Krystal Stevenson, Shawn Thomas (DeAlexis); Bonus grandchildren, Kryshe’ Stevenson, Kryshena Stevenson, James Branch III (Brianna), JaMontre’ Branch, Cierra Ester, Karlysa Pierce, Ameriah Byrant; Bonus daughters Sibrena Stevenson, Toni Ester-Johnson, Tempy Thomas; three great grandchildren, Isabella, Robyn, and Carmen; ten bonus great grandchildren; siblings, Rose Smith (devoted), Andrew Thomas, Marva Thomas, Johnnie Thomas (Barbara), Bessie Thomas, Earnest Thomas (Melanie), Brenda Thompson, Alton Thomas (Donna), Darryl Thomas (Rosalind), Reggie Thomas (Dia), Wanda Reynolds (Tony); brother-in-law, George Lewis; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
