Mary M.
Fallie
August 3, 1955 – September 23, 2023
Dr. Mary M. Fallie, 68, of Ashland, formerly of California, slipped into her eternal rest on September 23, 2023. Dr. Mary Fallie, fondly known as Myrtee, was a woman of great resilience, tenacity, and a brilliant mind all the way to the end of her journey. She was one of 8 children to Floyd and Alberta Fallie born on August 3, 1955. Our beloved daughter and sister preceded in death by her father Floyd G. Fallie, her two brothers Lazarus E. Fallie and Frederick H. Fallie.
Dr. Mary Fallie's education started in Hanover County graduating from Patrick Henry High School in 1975. A few years later she graduated from Virginia State University in 1979 with a bachelor's degree in political science. Around the year 1986, Mary decided to pack up her bags and drive across the country with two of her best friends to Los Angeles, California. There she continued her education at Phillips Graduate Institute gaining her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology in 2010. Mary ended up living in California for over 30 years. While in North Hollywood, CA she worked as a Psychology Assistant and residential counselor for several profound group homes such as Dubnoff Center for Child Development, Families in New Direction, and Penny Lane Youth Center.
Dr. Fallie was a partner with United Neighborhoods which was a program known for enhancing the quality in underserved communities. She also was CEO/Founder of Building Successful Transitions a brilliant program created to help at-risk inner-city children build successful transitions. She invented a kit of tools uniquely suited for successful transitioning. She retired from Penny Lane in 2018 and decided to drive across the country by herself back home to Ashland, VA.
Dr. Mary Fallie was baptized in the of the Lord Jesus Christ on April 24, 2011, at Community COOLIC in Ashland, VA under the leadership of her brother Elder Marloe Fallie. She later received the Holy Ghost while home visiting her family in 2016. Mary was loyal, dedicated member who was always willing to give monetarily and even her services with the youth. Even in her decline, she remained faithful to her church as well as her relationship with God. She built on a firm foundation which led to a successful transition from earth to her heavenly home.
In May of 2021, May was diagnosed with Liver and Lung cancer given 3 months to live. Mary was fighter! After dealing with several long-term illnesses her whole life, she never let anything hold her back form living life. Mary was known in our family for her adventures all over the world. She went on regular cruises, and traveled to several countries such as Europe, Australia, Alaska, Africa, numerous islands, etc. Her life was dedicated to exploring and helping children in need as well as her community. One of her favorite pastimes was planning family events especially for her nieces and nephews whom she adored. Christmas was her favorite holiday as she looked forward to surprising her nieces and nephews each year with fancy, thoughtful gifts. We can all agree holidays will never be the same for the Fallie family. Her loving energy and memories will forever be in our hearts.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories her devoted mother Alberta Fallie; two brothers Floyd Fallie, Elder Marloe Fallie (Blossom); three sisters Cynthia Fallie, Doris Banks, Carolyn Marks; nine nephews; three nieces' ten great nephews; nine great nieces; God-daughters Asiah Toliver, Lauren Marks, Shaniyah Banks; a host of family and friends.
Special thanks to the hospice team of nurses and doctors. Mary will be greatly missed by her family, but the roll has been called and she is now in the loving arms of her Savior.
