Obituary

Our beloved Mary Atlee Lacy Anderson transitioned home to be with the Lord after a long illness on Thursday morning July 29, 2021, at Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville, VA. Mary was born on February 27, 1950 to the late Marie and Garrett Norman Lacy, Sr.

Mary grew up in Caroline County, Virginia and attended Union High Public School. She was employed with Best Products as an Order Selector, Paragon Financial in Claims Department and MCV-VCU Health Information Systems where she worked for twenty-four years in the H.I.S. Processing Department and retired after her health began to fail. She loved her family, Income Taxes, Knitting, Crocheting, and trying her luck at the Casinos but, most of all she loved Jesus Christ and God's Word.

Mary accepted Christ at an early age. She joined 2nd Mt. Zion Baptist Church and later joined Abundant Life Church in Richmond, VA. Due to her illness she transferred her membership.

Preceded in death by her brothers Nelson and Garrett N. Lacy, Jr.; grandparents Mary B. Christian, Mary J. Stevens (Sam) who raised her; aunts and uncles Mable King (Joe), Oscar Stevens, Robert L. Stevens, Sarah Christian (Wilton), Florence B. Stevens (Mack) all later became like a mother and father to her.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted husband Aaron Sr. of 53 yrs. Born to this union two sons whom she loved and adored, Aaron, Jr. and Ricky Anderson (Josafeen); two sisters Jessie Lacy Hampton (Edward) and Gertrude Spurlock (Robert); three sisters-in-law Loretta Waller, Frances Gwathmey, and Viola Anderson; two brothers-in-law Daniel Anderson (Betty) and Leon Anderson Brown (Dorothy); cousins Addie Terrell, Herman Stevens, and aunt Sarah and cousin Addie's children were more like her sisters and brothers; nieces Robin Smith, Janice Hampton and Elfredia Jason; nephews Roy Spurlock and Joseph Hampton; great nieces Dystany Spurlock and Dalliss Braxton; four grandchildren Iyana Hudson, Izick Hudson, Aaron Johnson and Kamont'e Davis; three great grandchildren; and extended family Delores Sumler, Geneva Lynch (Moses), Rosa Taylor (Bobby), David Winnfield and a host of other relatives and friends.

Special thanks to her devoted sisters-in-law Loretta Waller, Frances Gwathmey and her devoted niece Joann Waller who called to check on Mary everyday or come by to see if she needed anything. Devoted cousin Herman (Notchy) visited everyday and she looked forward to him being there with Aaron, Sr.
