On Monday, March 15, 2021, Melvin S. Anderson peacefully transitioned to be with The Lord.  He was 79.

Melvin was born to the late John Samuel and the late Mary Lou Anderson on October 16, 1941.

Accepting Christ at a very young age, he joined and served faithfully at Jerusalem Baptist Church until he passed.  Being a member of the Trustee and Usher Boards as well as the Sexton were just a few of the ministries he served in.

Melvin was educated in the Hanover County Public School System.  After his retirement from RF&P Railroad, he started M&L Lawn Care.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Lou Anderson, Earl and Naomi Turner (Father and Mother-in-Law), Royce LaMar'a Caster (Granddaughter), and Mary Catherine Mines (Sister).

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Evelyn, devoted daughters Leslie (Bernard) Gray, Lisa (Shawn) Davis and Melva Anderson. Grandchildren JoLisa (Ashland) Caine, Randolph "Trey" (Stephanie) Woolfolk, Kayla Woolfolk, Petty Officer JaMel Baker, Jourdyn Anderson and Roi Caster.  Great Grandchildren Jaidyn, Braylon, Kaidyn, Rilee, Teyvion and Harleigh.  Aunt Celestine Mickens.  Sisters Thelma (Wortham) Smithers, Marion Harris and Garnetta Lucas.  Brothers John (Gloria) Anderson and Ernest (Cleo) Anderson.  Brother-in-Laws Dr. William (Vivian) Turner, Karl (Cecily) Turner, Mark Turner and Jeff (Millie) Turner and Sister-in-Law Marie Kirk.  A host of devoted nieces, nephews and friends in which he loved dearly.

Public viewing will be held at H.W. Dabney Funeral Home on Saturday, March 20, 2021, 11:00am-3:00pm.

Funeral Services will be private.
