On Sunday, September 1, 2024, our hearts were deeply interrupted when our loved one, M'kayla Emani Harris, 24, entered eternal rest and went home to be with our Lord and Savior.

M'kayla entered this life on June 13, 2000. She was the daughter of Charysse Nicole Gaines and Walter Elwood Gaines Jr. (bonus dad). She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Martha Harris; brother, Elijah Kenneth Dendy; son, Yah'Mir Elijah Goodall; and bonus grandfather, Carl Blair.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Brown Grove Baptist Church in Ashland, VA.She received her education from Hanover County Public Schools and was due to begin Fortis College in September 2024, to further her education and career as a Medical Assistant.

Being a mom was her greatest accomplishment. She devoted her life to loving the family she and her fiancé, Dion Yaheim Goodall created. She gave her family all of her, the best of her, the real her, and most of all, she enjoyed every moment in the moment.

M'kayla shared a special bond with her friends, but she also created an incredible bond with their children. She loved dancing and making TikTok videos with the kids (Justice and Neveah Lewis, Melynie Hill, Hisan and Misan Washington, and her daughter, Yah'Mani Sariyah Goodall). It was nothing she wouldn't do for and with the kids to make them happy.

We are certain that the indelible imprint that she has left on our hearts by far exceeds the quantity of time that she lived. We will forever miss her and her beautiful smile.

She will be remembered forever by her loving parents, Charysse and Walter Elwood Gaines Jr.; devoted fiancé, Dion Yaheim Goodall (8 yrs); daughter, Yah'Mani Sariyah Goodall; son, Yah'Mari Yaheim Goodall; bonus mom, Irish Goodall-Edwards (Chris); sister, Kynadi Nikole Dendy; bonus sisters, Frankia Goodall and Tameka Gaines; bonus brothers, Antonio Butts (Tiffany) and Trey Gaines; bonus grandmother, Danay Blair; Aunts Loretta Brown and Danielle Harris-Grimes (Christopher); first cousin/sister, N'dyah Harris; first cousins, O'Dell Bell, Bianca Bell, Fraquan McNeil, Syaani Harris, and Cailen Grimes; Goddaughter, Ny'daya Noble; best friend, Mecca Washington; devoted friends Takesha Barnes and Moniya Sumpter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
