Our beloved Odessa Marie Anderson Grant, age 87 departed her earthly body on August 31, 2023, at Memorial Regional Hospital in Mechanicsville, VA after a brief illness which was complicated by the long-term debility of dementia.  As was her wish, she passed with grace, dignity and respect as family members sat by her side. It was a peaceful and beautiful transition.

Born in her grandmother's house in Hanover, VA on October 27, 1935, Odessa was the only child of the late Robert and Annie Bell Anderson.

Odessa was a supportive, devoted caring wife and true partner to her husband. A loving mother, grand and great-grandmother. Selfless, nurturing and caring to her children and family. Always a guiding light, a gentle hand or a stern push. A listening ear and a sweet hug.  The backbone of the family, the constant and the calm.

Upon her husband's retirement in 1993, they moved from East Elmhurst, NY to Ruther Glen, VA where she became a member of Mangohick Baptist Church.
