Patricia Anna
Walker
December 24, 1952 – December 27, 2024
Patricia Anna Monroe Walker, affectionately known as "Coddie" by many, was born on December 24, 1952, in Caroline County to the late Eddie Roy and Cora S. Monroe. On December 27, 2024, surrounded by those who loved her, Patricia answered her call and departed this life.
She had a heart of gold and a love for God that was shown through her hard work and service at St. John Baptist Church. In addition to being a longtime and faithful member of the church, Patricia was also active in a variety of church ministries, such as The Willing Workers Club, the Usher Board, Sunday School, Hour of Power Choir, and the Chancellor Choir. Her daily actions reflected a humble servant of God.
Patricia's joy and laughter shined bright for all who knew her. She was a gifted seamstress and baker who loved gardening, shopping and dancing. Anyone who knew her also knew she was always up for a road trip.
Patricia received her education in the Caroline County Public School System. She began her working life at General Products before transitioning to Atlantic Union Bank, where she worked until retirement.
On October 6, 1975, Patricia was united in holy matrimony with James L. Walker. They were married for 49 years. She had three devoted children, Larissa Boulware, Lavinia Walker, and Torrance Walker. Granddaughters Toi Walker and Kenesha Ware. She also had a son-in-law, Stacey Boulware. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her brothers Bernard Samuel and Ernest Samuel Sr.
Patricia is survived by many family and friends who cherish her memory. These include her siblings: Yvonne Smith, Sylvester Samuel, Connie Gray (Rodney), and Elsa Monroe (devoted); her two uncles: Walter Monroe (Judy) and Brent Childs (Ann); her two sisters-in-law: Jairline Samuel (devoted) and Juanita Horn; her brothers-in-law: Carroll, Lorenzo, Andrew, Tyrone, and Calvin Walker; and her best friend since high school, Bertha Sims and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
