R ebecca C ary B rown, 77, (commonly known as Becky), beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was born November 21, 1942 to the late James Sr. and Gladys Cary in Gum Tree, Virginia.  On Friday, August 14, 2020, after putting up a strong fight against COVID-19, she suddenly gained her wings while in hospice care at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond, Va.

Rebecca was preceded in death by two brothers: John and Leon Cary.  As a young child, Becky attended Hanover County Public Schools. She also accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Jerusalem Baptist Church, where she was an active member serving on the Usher Board and other committees until the onset of her illness. Over the course of her life, she held several jobs ranging from:  Hanover County Bus Driver, a Chef at Randolph Macon College as well as a Deli Manager at Food Lion where she later retired.  She enjoyed working so much, that after she retired, she then began doing volunteer work at the Hanover Adult Center and Habitat for Humanity. Becky especially loved traveling, dancing, fishing, cooking and hanging out with her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughters; Patrice Cary, Priscilla Long (Dennis), Lisa Thomas, Bernice Boone (Garrison); one brother; James H. Cary Jr. (Vernell), 8 grandchildren, Tyrone Brown, John, Keith, Michael and Marcus Cary, Garrison Boone Jr. (Taylor), Genice Boone, and Kris Thomas Jr.; She also leaves 9 great grandchildren, 4 nephews, 2 nieces, 2 devoted friends, Florence Brown and Elma Tyler; and a host of extended family & friends.
