Reverend Margaret
Lee Coleman Henry
November 9, 1943 – September 8, 2024
Margaret Lee Henry was a great woman of God. She carried a warm and friendly smile with a calming voice that eased the soul. Known as Rev. Henry or Margaret to many, but to her family she was Marlee or Molly Bee.
The daughter of the late Clyde Shelton, Sr. and Edith Shelton, she was the eldest of four siblings. She was educated in the Louisa County Public School System and later obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Virginia University of Lynchburg on May 1st, 2010.
On September 17, 1966, Margaret was united in holy matrimony to William Henry, Jr. While no offspring were conceived during their marriage, she considered her nieces and nephews as her children.
Margaret is proceeded in death by her husband, William Henry, Jr.; parents, Clyde Sr. and Edith; sister, Bertha Shelton; sister-in-law, Minnie Henry; and nephew, Terrence Shelton.
At an early age, she surrendered her life to Christ and was baptized by the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Louisa, VA. Once she got married, she moved her membership to Providence Baptist Church, Ashland, VA then rejoined Mt. Olivet. She worked at Holly Farms/Tyson Foods for 31 years before she retired.
Margaret's passion was reading and being a servant for the Lord. She would read books all day long until her nephew, Jerquan, introduced her to a kindle and cell phone. She was tied at the hip with that kindle. She was licensed to preach by Rev. Evan C. White, Jr., on January 17, 1993, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. She held numerous positions at Mt. Olivet including Associate Minister, Senior Ministry teacher, Adult Sunday School teacher, member of the Robertson Memorial Choir, Senior Choir, and Missionary Choir. Additionally, she played Mother Mary in the Easter play for several years. Margaret could make a lemon pound cake that was out of this world. The icing would melt in your mouth.
Margaret's precious memoires will be cherished by her sister, Patricia Wise (Charlie); brother Clyde Shelton, Jr.; nieces Patricia Ware (devoted), Tama Jackson, Shelia Shelton (Signay), and Bonita Yeoman; nephew, Keith Shelton (Renarda); 40 great nieces and nephews, devoted Andre Shelton, Jerquan Tyler and Zhane Jones. Additionally, she had numerous cousins close to her heart, Betty Tyler, Melvin James, and Stacey Shelton, as well as her beloved sister in Christ and best friend Evangelist Rhonda Williams and Joyce Holt.
