Reverend Harold
Solomon, Sr.
February 12, 1949 – May 25, 2022
Rev. Harold Solomon, Sr. was born on February 12, 1949 in Sumter, South Carolina. He was the first of three children born to the late Willie Mack Solomon and Ruth Eliza Solomon. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gwendolyn Solomon. On March 4, 1972, he united in holy matrimony to the former Patricia Brooks and from this union 3 children were born, Shandra Solomon, Harold Rovell Solomon, Jr. and James Robert Solomon.
In August of 1976, he accepted Christ and became an active member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Maidens, Virginia. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1990, licensed to proclaim God's word in 2004 and ordained as a minister in 2007 by St. Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Marshall D. Burgess. He served as an associate minister at St. Mark until June 10, 2012 when he joined the Sixth Baptist Church family in Richmond, Virginia as an associate minister under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Yvonne Jones Bibbs. On March 29, 2014, he was called to pastor Pleasant Plain Baptist Church. He faithfully served God and the family of Pleasant Plain Baptist Church.
His early education was obtained in several schools in the south and Germany due to his father's military career. His family settled in Pennsylvania, where he attended Germantown High School and the Community College of Philadelphia. He furthered his education by receiving several certificates from Evan-Smith Leadership Training Institute at Virginia Union School of Theology. He received his diploma of Theological Studies from The Way of Life, in partnership with Oral Roberts University, and a Master of Divinity from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, Virginia Union University. He is a member of the Ministers Conference of Goochland and Vicinity and the Tuckahoe Baptist Association of Virginia, Clergy Division. He retired as a Telecommunications Engineer from Verizon after 35 years of dedicated service.
On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, God called Rev. Harold Solomon home. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife of 50 years, Patricia Brooks Solomon; three devoted children, Shandra Solomon, Harold Rovell Solomon, Jr. and James Robert Solomon (LaShay); four loving grandchildren, James Mayo, Lauren Solomon, Aaliyah Solomon, and Sade' Solomon; brother, Willie Mack Solomon, Jr.; two nieces, Sofia and Maya; four nephews, Corey, Jamil, Quincy, and Derrick, and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousin, and friends.
