Obituary

Robert Childs affectionately called "Bob" was born on March 5, 1960 in Richmond VA to the late Harvey S. Childs and Arlene Washington Childs.  He departed this earthly life on October 31, 2024 in comfort of his home in New Kent VA with his wife at his side.

Robert was married to the love of his life and devoted wife, Robinette Childs. With this union they bonded together four children (Keri, DeAndrew, Latasha and Melvin) They were blessed with a union and marriage for 35 years.

Robert accepted Christ at a young age where he joined Mangohick Baptist Church in King William VA.  Later he accepted the call and was baptized and joined membership with his wife and family at the Tower of Deliverance Ministries, West Point VA.  He remained a faithful member of the ministry for many years of dedicated service in the capacity of Armor Bearer, Finance Committee, Outreach and Sunday School teacher and earned the title of Minister Robert Childs. At the time of his death he was a member of Agape Kingdom Ministry under the leadership of Bishop Lloyd Westbrook and Apostle Pamela Westbrook.

Robert was educated in King William County Public School and graduated with the class of '78.  Robert was employed with BC Wood Products until he retired after thirty (30) years of service in 2007. After a few years of retirement, he later gained employment with Colonial Downs as a Security Officer and served in that capacity until 2019 until his health began to fail. I can truly say "To know Robert, was to love him"!

Robert was a dedicated husband, son, brother, dad, stepdad, papa and foster dad to many, some as far as Russia!   Robert was also a diehard Washington Commanders fan!

Robert was preceded in death by his parents (Harvey and Arlene Childs) and his brother, Junior Washington.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife Robinette Childs, his daughters Keri Childs, Latasha Jones-Brown (Lee), his sons DeAndrew Jones and Melvin Randall, Ruth Beverly (Aunt), Brothers Alvin Washington (Pauline) and Harvey Childs, sister-in-law Doris Whitfield, brothers-in-law,  Lorenzo Parker (Linda), and George Randall.  Six grandchildren Yazmine, Kaleb, Kayden, Roman, Zee and Lee III, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, devoted friends Charlie B., Adam & Kimberly Johnson.

Gone too soon, but will never be forgotten…Forever in my heart!  Devoted Wife, Robinette ("Rob & Rob" 1989-2024)!
