Robert Jessie Fields, Sr. was born June 24, 1927 to the late Thomas and Wilberta Fields in Lorne, Virginia.  He was the third of thirteen children born of their union.

Robert was educated in the Caroline County School System.  He received Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and joined St. Luke Baptist Church.  Robert worked at the Western Auto in Ashland, Virginia for 36 1/2 years and later at Taylor Flooring and then his most important job of all, RETIREMENT.

Robert enjoyed fixing lawn mowers, bicycles, cutting grass and being around family and friends.  He especially enjoyed sitting outside in the yard or on the front porch watching and waving as the cars passed by, too many of whom he did not know but just to get that honk of a horn or wave was pleasing to him.

In 1959, Robert joined Gloria Alberta Grimes in holy matrimony and to them four children were born.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Wilberta Fields; sisters, Jessie Snead (twin), Barbara Anderson, Bernice Anderson and Helen Nelson; brothers, David Sr., Thomas Jr., Timothy Sr. and Jamie Fields.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Gloria Fields; four children, Robert Jr. (Valerie); Lola Williams (James), Debbie Tunstall (Rufus), Shawntell Crawley (Marshall); seven grandchildren, Brittney Fields; David, Candace, and Cameron Williams; Rufus and Trevon Tunstall, and Timothy Mills. He is also survived by his sisters, Alice Dodson (Charles); Irene Clark, Earlene and Geraldine Fields; one aunt, Fannie Woolfolk; one brother-in-law, Charles Dodson; three sisters-in-law, Clarissa Fields, Martha Tucker (Richard) and Lathania Braxton and a host of family and friends.

There will be no repast after the funeral and interment.
