Robert Pleasant Johnson, Jr. departed this life, Monday, June 22, 2020. He was born to the late Robert Johnson, Sr. and Rosa Brown Johnson in Richmond, Virginia on January 8, 1964. Robert accepted Christ at an early age and attended First African Baptist Church.
Robert attended Richmond Public Schools graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School.
Robert joined the United States Army in 1982, where he was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Robert went on to rise in rank to Sargent, traveling nationally and abroad. Robert married Willnette Alma Hayes on November 5, 1983. Out of this union was born four children, Camille, Robert III, James and Timothy. Also our special addition, Croy, grandson. God blessed this union for 36 years.
Robert was a father to many bonus sons, Pope Bland, Rahmel Moore, Vernon Thomas-Plummer, Leon Thomas, Stanley Askew-White, Marcus Mitchell, Myles Carey, Brendan Puryear, Chris Sanchez, Sean Aaron, Marquis Kenney, Omega Weaver, Herman Tillman, Deshawn Jefferson, Brian Beatty, Jacob Mitchell, Brad Elgin, Kevin Roberts, and Keith Roberts. Bonus daughter Tia Thomas-Brown. Devoted friends Chico Dyer, Demetrius Williams, Kenneth Andrews, Douglas Smith, Bobby Burrus. Devoted cousins Thomas and Michael Johnson.
He was in the brotherhood of the Masons, Prince Hall Masonic Temple, 520 N. 25th Street, Richmond, Virginia 23223. He was employed at Carter Caterpillar Machinery, Peterbuilt of Richmond, and self employed.
He joined Mount Vernon Baptist Church in 1995 where he was a member of the Male Chorus, drummer, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, Choir Director, Young Adult Choir, Mass Choir and Gospel Choir. He coached Little League Football for the Laurel Panthers for 2 years., where he was a mentor to several boys in need.
He is survived by his wife Willnette, his four children, Camille (Corey), Robert III, James, Timothy and grandson Croy; mother Rosa Johnson, sisters, Karen (Antione), Regina (Wendall); brothers, Anthony (Monica) and Antonio Stanton. Aunts and uncles, Sherry Gray, Darlene Hardy, Walter Brown, Doris Banks, Estelle Davis, Joanne Johnson, and great aunt, Florence Ford. Brothers in law, Arnold, Edward (Anna), Kenneth (Patricia), Eugene (Josephine), and Scott. Sisters in law, Sharlene (Vincent Sr), cousins, nieces, nephews, bonus children, and friends.
