Robert William Winston, affectionately known as "Bob" was born to the late William and Carrie R. Winston on February 27, 1936 in Ashland – Hanover County, Virginia.  He departed this life July 15, 2020.

Bob attended school at the Hanover Training Center in Ashland.  Upon graduation, he began his career in the United States Navy.  Bob touched many lives throughout his employment career at Big Star Grocery Store, Solar Seal Glass Company and lastly, following retirement, he worked part time as a produce manager for Food Lion Stores.

At an early age, Bob accepted Christ and was baptized at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Beaverdam, Virginia.  Throughout his life, he continued attending and supporting Ebenezer Baptist Church in all its endeavors until his health began to decline.

Bob married the late Elaine R Shelton and adopted two sons, the late Cullen Aubrey Shelton and Stanley Shelton.  To the union of their marriage two sons were born, the late Robert W. Winston, Jr., and Latimer O. Winston.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, James and Thomas Winston; five sisters, Ruby Winston, E. Geraldine W. Wells, Mary W. Johnson, Ruth W. Carter, and Carrie W. Burton.  He leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Anna McLean W. Shelton; two sons, Stanley Shelton and Latimer O. Winston (Doneisha); two grandsons, Cullen Sherrod and Zachary; three granddaughters, Tosha, Brandy, and Ashley; his soulmate, partner, and friend for life, Jerlean "Kitty" Russell; devoted niece and caretaker, Saundra Jordan; devoted niece, Nardra "Cookie" Goodall, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, including two special friends, Jeffro Carter, and Thaddeus (Sonny) Jones.
