Rondeu Mccoy
Spurlock
August 8, 1952 – March 5, 2024
Celebrating the Life of
Rondeu McCoy Spurlock, Jr.
Rondeu McCoy Spurlock, Jr., affectionately known as "Ran Jr.," or "Junie," answered his Master's call and departed this life on March 5, 2024.
Ran Jr. was born August 8, 1952, to the late Rondeu Sr. and Sarah Lee Spurlock. Ran Jr. accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age, and was baptized at Mangohick Baptist Church in Hanover, Virginia. He later became a member of Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Hanover, Virginia.
Ran Jr. attended and graduated from King William County Public Schools. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Catherine Johnson. Ran Jr. and Catherine later united in Holy Matrimony. In total, they spent 53 years together and were blessed with 3 children. Ran Jr. was also a faithful employee of Allan Meyers where he continuously took pride in his work ethic and was known to be the #1 asphalt roller operator in the area. He was extremely hard-working, very dependable and made many lifelong friends over his career.
Ran Jr. enjoyed watching westerns, spending time with family, and listening to music. He was a huge Temptations fan and could spend hours with his brothers, and his cousin Chastine singing their songs. On his days off, he could be found watching Cheyenne, Big Valley or Gunsmoke. But without a shadow of a doubt, his most favorite pastime was being a Papa. He loved and truly spoiled all his grandchildren. Ran Jr. was a devoted husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend.
Ran Jr. was preceded in death by his only son, Rodney Johnson.
Ran Jr. leaves to cherish his precious memory a devoted wife Catherine Spurlock, two daughters, devoted Sharmeka Mines (Ryan), and Rose Johnson; eight granddaughters Ashllee, Kiasha, Alexis, Kylee, Nevaeh, Naryah, Amya, and Sarai; one great-grandson Amir; five devoted brothers Major (Ann), Timothy (Cynthia), Manuel (Delores), Maurice, and Derrick (Miranda); five sisters Madeline Brown (Robert), Mertine Clark (Vatell), Mary Tyler (Eldridge), Leatha Carey (Robert), and Jennifer Freeman (Cedric); devoted brother and sister-in-law Roland and Maxcine Harris; two brothers-in-law Alphonso Edwards and Wyman Edwards (Betsy); one aunt Ida Johnson; devoted niece Janet Woody; devoted nephews Derrick Jr., Robert, Darryl and Devin; devoted cousins, Chastine Anderson and Phyllis Branch (along with her husband Bo); and longtime friend Mike Anderson. He also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He will truly be missed by many.
