Ruth Virginia
Bryant
April 1, 1936 – November 23, 2024
On November 23, 2024, our hearts were broken when the matriarch of the Bryant family, Ruth Virginia Bryant peacefully transitioned at her home to eternal life. Her absence will be deeply felt by those who knew and treasured her. While we mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit rests with the Lord.
Ruth was born on April 1, 1936, to the late Deacon Mack Henry Bryant and Deaconess Eva Belle C. Bryant. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Mt. Oni Baptist Church. As Ruth grew up in the Ruther Glen community, her pride in her church, as well as her school, Union High, defined her lifestyle and charisma. She enjoyed attending church in her array of hats, traveling near and far and spending time with family. For years, she served faithfully as church treasurer while fulfilling her responsibilities with the Federal Bureau of Engraving in Washington, DC.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Bryant and siblings: Ciara Jones, Ervin Bryant, Donald Bryant, Lottie Cargle, Marion Lewis, Willie Bryant, Annie Woolfolk, Rachel Deberry, Joseph Bryant, and Rosetta Bryant.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her brothers, Chester Bryant (Jacqueline) and Shelby Bryant (Deborah), foster son and caretaker, Marquise Burruss, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
