Obituary

Shellie Lloyd Lewis, Jr., affectionately known as "Man," went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2021. Shellie, the second of three children born to the late Shellie L. Lewis, Sr. and Edith Watkins Lewis, was born October 8, 1962. Shellie was predeceased by one sister, Cathy L. Harris (Earnest) and an especially dear grandmother, Edna Watkins.

Shellie received his education within Hanover County Public Schools, where he played football, ran track, and played the trombone in the high school marching band. Upon graduating with the Patrick Henry High School class of 1982, Shellie followed in his father's footsteps and entered into the United States Army; there, he served three years of active duty and two years within the National Guard. Following military service, Shellie moved into a productive, 33-year career as a gas controller, first with Columbia Gas, and primarily, with the City of Richmond.

Shellie was a man of God and committed his life to Christian service. At an early age, he was baptized at Brown Grove Baptist Church, later moving his membership to Shiloh Baptist Church and Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he served in the media ministry. He also enjoyed attending Victory Tabernacle Church of Deliverance.

Shellie held a kind heart, a giving spirit, a beautiful smile, and a hearty, infectious laugh. He possessed a passion for photography, culminating in his SL Photography business, where he specialized in graduation and family portraits, as well as weddings. Beyond photography, his other hobbies included: bowling, fishing, cooking, discovering new restaurants, and spending time with family. Shellie was also an avid Duke basketball and Dallas Cowboys fan, making sure to catch every game possible.

Shellie was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Constance H. Lewis, on April 6, 2020. Together, they loved to travel, experiencing new sights and delicious treats.

Along with his faithful wife Constance H. Lewis, to continue his legacy of love are his devoted sons, Austin Lewis (Tenesha) and Aaron Lewis; adoring grandson, Jarell Lewis; devoted brother, Mark Lewis (Felicia); nieces, Kelsey Harris and Camryn Lewis; nephews, S. Jordan Harris (Sheena) and Christian Lewis; great niece, Shaya Harris; great nephew S. Jordan Harris, Jr.; uncle, W. Scott Lewis (Margaretta); aunts, Barbara Corum and Jane Lewis; bonus daughter, Keyonda Tawiah-Ludwiq; bonus son, Sgt. First Class, Keith Cooper (Jessica); bonus grandchildren Zion, Zoey, Amare, Ava Marie, and Ashton; 6 brothers-in-law; 11 sisters-in-law; as well as a host of dear cousins, friends, and relatives, including a special sister-in-law, Jean Winston; special cousins, Diane Marrow and Toya Cary; and a special friend, Al Johnson.

THANK YOU

Thank you for your endless love

that helps me through each day.

And thank you for the memories that never fade away.

You are the man I loved,

And I was proud to be your wife.

And everyday in some small way, I celebrate your life.

And though it's sad to think about the way things were before.

When we're reunited, it will be forever more.

Love, your wife,

Connie
