Sherwood Leon
Green, Sr. "Wood"
November 23, 1956 – July 2, 2022
Sherwood Leon Green, Sr. affectionately known as "Wood", entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center. Sherwood was born on November 23, 1956. The son of the late Thomas Lee Jones and Murlene Anderson-Jones. Sherwood was preceded in death by his daughter Sheena Green, the love of his life, his beloved wife Otelia A. Green, and father-in-law Raymond Freeman, Sr.
Sherwood attended King William County Schools. Sherwood grew up on a fully functioning farm that included every animal that one could think of; which also formed his love of animals especially dogs. There was never a time you would talk to him that he didn't talk about this baddd dog he has or was going to get. Sherwood then went on to work for Jarrell's Truck Stop as a cook. Later he worked for Virginia Precast until his health began to fail.
Sherwood was a fun loving person, always the life of the party, as he would always come in with a funny word or his signature "greatttttttttttt day" saying. He also had a way with telling a story to the point that you had to ask "Tee" whether the story was authentic or not. He was a diehard Redskins Fan throughout their many names he still loved his team; you could find him on many Sunday's mad because they lost. Sherwood thought he was the king of the spade and domino table as he hated to lose. Sherwood was an excellent cook as the next top chef had nothing on him. In addition to cooking he could clean anything he put his hands on as he thought he was a part of Molly Maids. Sherwood truly enjoyed spending time with his family; especially his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, two devoted sons; Sherwood Green, Jr. "May May" and Thomas Green "Pee-Wee"; devoted daughter-in-love Antoinette Gordon; two sisters, Deborah "Ann" Wallace of Chesterfield, VA and Joanne Conyers of Manning, South Carolina; three sisters-in-law, Amy Carter (James "Mike"), Benita "Nee-Nee"Jackson (Michael) and LaTonia Freeman; two brothers-in-law, Marcus and Rodney Freeman of Doswell, VA; Eight grandchildren Deshawn "Day-Day", Shawn, Demontae, Ka'Najah, Jamari, Jayceon, Sharmar and Thomas Jr., a host of nieces among them devoted Lynette Carter, nephews, other relatives and friends, among them devoted Devin, Jessie and Shannon.
