Shirley Marie Briggs entered eternal rest on February 20, 2024, in Richmond, VA. She was born to the late Lelia M. Briggs and Melvin Briggs.

Shirley was born on January 20, 1955, in Richmond, VA. She attended Navy Hill and Baker Elementary Schools and B.B. Graves Middle School. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1973. Shirley worked at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.

Shirley loved her daughter and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She enjoyed music, dancing, and spending time with family. Shirley loved the beach, playing cards from pity pat to tonk, and the casino. She looked forward to her annual trips to Florida.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Lelia and Melvin Briggs, brother Elmo, sister Alicia, brothers Jack and BodyGuard.

She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories her only daughter Shantisse Briggs; three grandchildren Niyana Briggs, Brandon Briggs, and Leah Briggs; sister Helena Tillman; brother Mason Tillman (Jackie); close cousins Regina Morris and Vonzell Coppage; cousins Willie Gordon and Disheena Bratton; a host of nieces, nephews, longtime friend of 64 years Ralph A. Fields, Sr., lifetime friends Phyllis Bosher and Renee Pittman; like a sister Toni Jackson.
