Obituary

Shirley "Buddy" Holman entered eternal rest Monday, April 20, 2020 at Memorial Regional Hospital, Mechanicsville, Virginia. He was born February 19, 1937, the fourth child to the late James, Sr. "Mike" and Sally Holman. He was preceded in death by his son, Kelvin Holman, sister Peggy Holman, and brothers Randall "Bob", James, Jr. "Tootie", Dennis and Henry "Boo" Holman.

Shirley was educated in the Hanover County Public School System. He later attended barber school and received his certification. He accepted Christ at Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Adam Grimes. He served as a Trustee for over twenty years and was an active member of the Senior and Men's Choirs. He was employed at A. H. Robbins for many years and retired from Union Camp. Upon retirement he was free to follow his passion and was able to devote more time as a barber. Often, going into the homes of clients who were not able to come to his shop. He was well known and shared his talent with those in Ashland and surrounding counties.

Shirley leaves to cherish his memory a loving and faithful wife of fifty nine years, Evelyn; two devoted sons, Carl (Cathy)  and Gary Holman; daughter-in-law, Linda Holman; one sister, Laura Storrs (Cassell); two brothers, Larry (Mary)  and Earl Holman; three sisters-in-law, Beatrice Johnson, Lucille Henry and Louise Lewis; three grandchildren, Jeremy and Cherelle Holman and Lamont Fountain; and one great-grandchild, Madison Holman.  A host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
