Soniya Jaela
Whiskey Hull
April 23, 2008 – December 6, 2025
Soniya Jayla Whiskey-Hull was born on April 23rd, 2008, and her life was tragically cut short by an act of senseless gun violence on December 6th, 2025. Though only 17 years old, Soniya lived with boldness, purpose, and a passion that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Soniya was a true go-getter, confident, determined, and full of life. Her infectious energy, strength, and unwavering support uplifted those around her. She carried herself with confidence and never hesitated to speak her truth.
A natural trendsetter, Soniya expressed herself through music, dance, and style. Her creativity extended into her work as a self-taught makeup artist and digital creator, where she built a growing online presence through YouTube. She used her platforms to encourage authenticity and self-confidence, especially among young people. With a strong hustle mentality, Soniya entered the working world with pride, earning her first job at Cracker Barrel, where she approached her responsibilities with maturity and dedication.
Soniya proudly wore the Springer badge of honor during her years at Highland Springs High School in Virginia. Once a Springer, always a Springer! A bond she cherished deeply. She later transferred to J.R. Tucker High School, where she was excited to be a senior and part of the graduating Class of 2026. Her teachers and peers remember her for her intelligence, loving heart, and courage to speak her mind.
At home, Soniya shared an extraordinary bond with her father, Raju Hull, whom she loved deeply. She was his splitting image in both spirit and determination, inheriting her drive and resilience from him. Raju went to the ends of the earth to ensure that Soniya and her sister had everything they needed, and his love and sacrifice shaped the strong young woman Soniya became.
Soniya took her role as a big sister seriously. She was the proud protector of Alayna, and the two shared a joyful bond filled with laughter, TikTok dances, and unforgettable moments. Together with their father, they were inseparable, the three musketeers, standing united through every challenge and every victory.
She also shared a special bond with her big brother, Ja Quan, who supported and spoiled her endlessly. He was her voice of reason and understanding. That bond grew even stronger when Soniya became an aunt to his two beautiful children, a role she cherished deeply to her niece Jamilah Fraser and Nephew Chozen Fraser.
Soniya Jayla Whiskey-Hull is survived by her loving father, Raju Hull; her sister, Alayna Whiskey-Hull; her brother, Ja Quan Fraser; the Whiskey and Hull families, including her grandparents Frank Ferdinand & Shirma Whiskey, Elchardo Browne; and a large circle of devoted aunts including Shernelle Hull, Rhonell Quashie, Cashina Dabriel, Sheron Hull, uncles, cousins, and countless friends whose lives were forever changed by her presence.
Soniya was preceded in death by her beloved mother, who passed away on December 19th, 2022. Now, Soniya has been reunited with her mother in eternal peace. The number 19 holds deep significance for the family, symbolizing love, loss, and connection.
In honor of that meaning, Soniya Jayla Whiskey-Hull is laid to rest on December 19th, 2025.
Though her life was far too brief, Soniya leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, creativity, and loyalty. Her light will continue to shine through the memories she created, the people she uplifted, and the love she shared so freely.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
